Scorpio season has arrived. From October 22 to November 21, the Sun moves through the sign of transformation, power, intimacy and shadow.
This is not a season that stays on the surface. Scorpio calls us down into the depths, into the rooms we usually keep closed. There we meet the fears, old patterns and stories that stand between us and who we are becoming. Scorpio does not ask us to fix these things. It asks us to face them, let what has gone stagnant fall away, and rise renewed, the way the phoenix rises from its own ashes.
As a Cardologer, I don’t experience the zodiac seasons only as collective weather. I experience them as invitations to look at my own cards. This season, one card in your yearly spread stands at the center: your Pluto card.
The cards Scorpio awakens
Scorpio has two rulers, Pluto and Mars. Both appear in your Cardology yearly spread, and together they tell the story of this season for you.
Your Pluto card: what is being transformed. The Pluto card names the shadow work of your year. It points to what you are being asked to look beneath, shine a light on, or see if there are any buried wounds you’ve yet brought into full view – to either grow through, release or own as power you’ve not embraced yet. It often feels uncomfortable because it shows us where we are still holding on or avoiding. In Scorpio season, that holding becomes visible.
Your Result card: who rises from the ashes. The Pluto card never stands alone. Its partner, the Result card, shows what the transformation is moving you toward. What gift awaits you because you were willing to look into the dark and take notice? If the Pluto card is the fire, the Result card is the phoenix.
Your Mars card: the courage to meet it. Mars, Scorpio’s traditional ruler, brings will, passion and action. Your Mars card shows how you find the warrior’s heart to walk into the depths instead of avoiding them.
Where Scorpio season lands in my year
Your 52-day planetary periods begin on your birthday, so Scorpio season falls at a different point in each person’s year. That is where it gets personal.
My birthday is July 22. This Scorpio season begins in the final days of my Venus period (through November 2) and then crosses into my Mars period on November 3. I find that beautiful. The season itself moves from Scorpio’s sensual, magnetic side into its fierce, powerful side, and my own year makes the same move from Venus into Mars.
My Pluto cards this year are the 3♠️ & Q♦️(under my Ruling card), and my Result cards are the 5♠️ and 8♣️.
So, I ask myself during Scorpio season:
On the topic of my creativity (3♠️) and using it in a mature way – Am I willing to look at it more deeply rather than taking it for granted?
And because Pluto points us at what might be a hidden wound we’ve not been looking at, I can tune in on the topic of my creativity to ask if there is anything I am suppressing, not seeing or hiding?
Because my Venus period is in the time of Scorpio, I see the topic of my Pluto cards in the area of my life that is about my values, my relationships, my joys, pleasures and desires. How do I use my creativity in that part of my life?
I’ve been enjoying playing music (on a piano) and creating songs using Suno.
I am noticing that I feel somewhat guilty unless all that time spent is “on purpose.” Ah, there it is…why not just have fun with my creativity?
I can go back to childhood when doing something “just for fun” was unacceptable.
I’m being given an opportunity to shine a light on that and see it isn’t MY truth – it was my father’s truth (or wound) and I can let that shit go!
My Result card is the 5♠️ – telling me that I can enjoy a change in my life (and well-being) by doing so!
As I step into my Mars period, my Mars card – the 8♣️ – reminds me to use the energy of staying focused and determined in my mindset. I often find that a lot of professional creatives are 8 of Clubs. I see how their mindset and determination took them into the succes they have.
I do the same with the Pluto card under my Ruling card and apply that. I can see where it is playing out in my life and also influencing the area of my life that Venus influences.
Take a moment to find your own: which period are you in right now, and does Scorpio season carry you across into a new one?
Three moon doorways this season
During Scorpio season, we have three moons:
- Full Moon in Taurus, October 25. What is being illuminated in your life around attachment, security, and how you deal with letting go?
- New Moon in Scorpio, November 8. This is the heart of the season. Sit with your Pluto card and set one intention: the fear you are willing to face.
- Full Moon in Gemini, November 24. Just after Scorpio season closes, what have you uncovered, reclaimed, or released – especially with your inner voice and thoughts – that changes the way you move forward?
Journal prompts for Scorpio season
- Place last year’s Pluto and Result cards beside this year’s. What has died away? What has newly emerged?
- What is the low expression of my Pluto card, and where do I see it in my life right now?
- What would I need to release for my Result card to fully arrive?
- Where is my Mars card asking me to act with courage instead of waiting?
- If I moved my body to the energy of my Pluto card, what would that look like?
Into the depths, together
Scorpio season reminds us that the shadow is where the light is found. Your cards don’t predict your transformation. They map it, so you can walk through it with awareness instead of resistance.
If you know your current Pluto, Result and Mars cards for this year, I’d love to hear which card is speaking loudest for you this season.
