Sometimes our cards smack us in the face so we can pay attention to how we are playing them. This is especially true with our Pluto card(s) as we can tend to think once we know what they’re about and we see the early life trauma represented by the card(s), we got it…
Yeah…that really isn’t how it works! I keep learning this lesson the same way: not by studying it, but by living it and then, weeks later, going oh. Oh, that was it.
My Pluto card is the Queen of Clubs. If you know your Cardology, you already know what that means —our Pluto card is the wound site, the place where power gets buried and then has to be excavated, on repeat, until you finally stop looking away from it.
Here’s how she showed up for me this time.
I’ve been doing biofield scans, and every single one comes back the same way: throat chakra, suppressed truth. Every time.
So a few weeks ago, frustrated, I finally just asked outright — what truth? Because I really thought I had done the work on fully speaking my truth. I set boundaries. Had a few biggy experiences around that this past Spring. I say what I need to say. I wasn’t staying quiet anymore..
The answer that came back stopped me:
“Your greatest challenge is trusting that your voice is safe and needed.”
And underneath that — “The truth of your inherent authority and the right to speak without apology.”
I sat with that for a minute. Then I kept going, because apparently I wasn’t done. I asked point-blank about my work — am I finished building what I’m building with Cardology, or is there more underneath it that I haven’t said out loud yet? And what came through was this:
“You may fear that your complete vision — how you would like to expand or redefine Cardology — will be met with skepticism or resistance, even from those you deeply respect.”
Then it got specific in a way I wasn’t ready for:
“Your fear of fully stepping into your work with Cardology was closely tied to your desire for validation from your family of origin.”
Bingo. There she was. Queen of Clubs, right on schedule.
Because the wound underneath the wound: I was told, repeatedly, by my father, that women — our knowledge, our ideas, our thoughts, and especially our intuition — were worthless. That got packed away a long time ago into a very small, very tidy box, and I have been unconsciously asking permission from that box every time I’ve considered saying the fuller, truer version of what I know about this work.

This is the part nobody warns you about with your Pluto card: you don’t usually catch it while it’s happening. It doesn’t announce itself. It just quietly runs the show — in a chakra scan that keeps flagging the same spot, in the way you hedge before you say the biggest thing you know to be true, in how much weight you still give to whether certain people would approve of who you’re becoming. Months of this, and I wasn’t once thinking oh, this is my Pluto wound. I was just living inside it.
I’m not fully out the other side of this one. I don’t think that’s how it works anyway — I think you get another lap at it, deeper, when you’re ready for the next layer. But I know something now I didn’t a month ago: the voice I keep suppressing isn’t dangerous. It’s just been unclaimed. And claiming it has nothing to do with anyone’s permission — not my father’s, not my family’s, not even mine, really. It’s just… time.
That same week, the Queen of Clubs was all over my weekly cards.
And, in a beautiful serendipitous way, the topic of our Empowering You monthly workshop was on our Pluto card.
I just love when my Higher Self decides to use ME as the example of, ‘hey, even if you know all about the meaning of your Pluto card, it doesn’t mean you have it nailed and fully healed.’
